BING LEE - ‘Home Cafe’
Bing Lee engaged Kreate to respond to a last-minute retail opportunity: the takeover of a vacant café located in the centre of Rhodes Shopping Centre during the highly competitive Black Friday and Christmas trading period.
The challenge was to transform an unused space into a compelling retail experience that could cut through peak-period noise, elevate consideration of coffee machines, and help shoppers feel confident choosing the right product in a category that is often complex and feature-driven.
Kreate developed Home Café - a playful yet premium café-style demonstration space designed to bring the emotional experience of a café into a retail environment, allowing shoppers to see, smell, taste and understand Bing Lee’s range of coffee machines in a familiar and engaging way.
Creative direction drew inspiration from a festive gingerbread house, delivering strong visual cut-through in a busy shopping centre while remaining warm, welcoming and aligned to the Christmas period. The space was deliberately designed to feel experiential rather than transactional, encouraging shoppers to pause, engage and explore.
On site, Kreate’s staffing team facilitated live product demonstrations and offered coffee samples from leading brands including Ninja and Breville. By pairing guided demonstrations with sensory trial, the Home Café reduced decision-making friction and helped shoppers move from curiosity to confidence during a critical retail window.
The activation demonstrated how underutilised retail space can be transformed into a high-impact experiential environment that supports both brand storytelling and commercial outcomes during peak trading periods.
