WICKS PLACE (TOGA GOUP) - FESTIVUS CHRISTMAS MARKET
The Context:
Wicks Place is a newly developed mixed-use precinct in Marrickville, combining residential apartments with a neighbourhood retail hub. While residential occupancy was strong, broader public visitation was inconsistent. The space lacked warmth and community connection, and required a strategic activation approach to embed it authentically within the local area
The Objective:
In line with the original brief, the activation program was designed to:
Increase local awareness and visitation
Create vibrancy and warmth in the public domain
Engage young families and local residents
Showcase the precinct as a culturally aligned neighbourhood destination
Our Approach:
We created Festivus - a community-led festive program designed around local makers, family-friendly moments and culturally relevant experiences.
Instead of a typical retail Christmas overlay, we focused on:
Arts-led workshops and interactive moments
Strong visual styling to soften the built environment
Food integration to support existing traders
Programming that encouraged dwell time and repeat visits
Everything was scaled to feel local - not corporate.
The Impact:
Festivus shifted perception from “new development” to “place people go”.
Increased weekend visitation
Stronger tenant engagement
High organic social sharing
A repeatable activation framework for future seasons
